From Massage Therapist to Medicine Woman: My Journey of Spiritual Awakening
Becoming a medicine woman and energy healing practitioner
The path of a healer isn’t always straight or clear. Sometimes it winds through cloud forests in Costa Rica, ancient redwood groves in California, and deep into the Amazon jungle. This year, at 40, my journey as a holistic healer transformed dramatically as I embraced my true calling as a medicine woman and energy healing practitioner. Let me share how this metamorphosis unfolded and what it means for our healing community!
Discovering Shamanic Healing and Ancient Wisdom in the Amazon
In November 2024, I embarked on a life-changing journey to Ecuador, where I began a six-month mentorship with Manari Ushigua of the Sapara tribe. This wasn’t just another training program – it was a profound initiation into indigenous healing traditions that have been preserved for generations.
Deep in the Amazon jungle, I completed my first tobacco dieta, a traditional ceremony that tested my physical, mental, and spiritual strength. This intense experience, combined with receiving traditional Pajos (healing energy transmission) from tribal elders, awakened something powerful within me. It confirmed what I had felt stirring in my soul: I was meant to expand beyond traditional massage therapy into deeper realms of energy medicine and spiritual healing.
Solo Journey Through the Indigenous Wisdom of Sacred Landscapes
My transformation wasn’t limited to the Amazon. This year took me on a solo expedition through some of North America’s most powerful landscapes. From the misty redwood forests of Oregon to the towering giants of California’s Humboldt State Park, I discovered that true healing power often comes from connecting deeply with nature’s wisdom.
Camping alone beneath ancient trees and starlit skies taught me invaluable lessons about inner strength and self-reliance – qualities that now infuse my healing practice. The experience of drinking from the headwaters of the Sacramento River near Mount Shasta and absorbing the mountain’s legendary spiritual energy further deepened my connection to Earth’s natural healing forces.
Evolving My Holistic Healing Medicine Woman Practice
As my own spiritual journey deepened, so too did my understanding of what it means to be a healer. While massage therapy provided a wonderful foundation, I recognized that my gifts and training were calling me to expand into new territories of healing work. This evolution has led me to:
- Integrate indigenous healing wisdom with modern energy work
- Develop advanced energy healing techniques
- Create transformational teaching programs in Reiki and energy medicine
- Offer deeper, more spiritually-aligned healing sessions
What This Means for You: Spiritual Transformation
If you’ve been on this journey with me as a massage client, you might be wondering what these changes mean. While I’m transitioning away from traditional massage therapy (now offered by my trusted colleague Temple), I’m excited to offer even more powerful healing modalities:
- Advanced energy healing sessions
- Spiritual counseling and guidance
- Reiki training and certification
- Indigenous wisdom teachings
- Group healing workshops
Looking Forward: 2025 and Beyond
The journey continues as I prepare to return to Ecuador in February for the next phase of my shamanic training. Each step deeper into these ancient healing traditions allows me to bring more powerful medicine back to our community.
For those feeling called to explore deeper aspects of healing and spiritual growth, I invite you to join me on this expanded path. Whether you’re seeking personal transformation, healing, or training in energy medicine, I’m here to guide you with the wisdom and techniques I’ve gathered from both ancient traditions and modern healing practices.

Final Thoughts
Transformation isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. This year taught me that sometimes we must journey far from home – whether physically or spiritually – to discover our true path. As I settle into my role as a Reiki medicine woman and teacher, I’m more committed than ever to sharing these powerful healing traditions with our community.
Your healing journey matters, and I’m honored to walk this path with you, offering new tools and ancient wisdom to support your transformation.
